  • 4 hour hike to the waterfall.
  • Lunch at ‘Yuractio’ small stone.

  • Toroyacu Waterfall.
  • Dinner around the campfire.
  • Camping.
Day 2
  • Free time for swimming by the waterfall.
  • 3 hour return trek to San Roque.
  • Lunch in the village.
  • Time to swim in the River Cumbaza and relax.

Day 1:
  • Welcome coffee at –‘Joyce V Bartra’ sculpture gallery.
  • Learn how to make Ecological natural paper, one hour demonstration.
  • Traditional and regional foods RBM.
  • Make a basic ceramic bowl with Indigenous artisans, spend time with these amazing women learning about their ancient craft.
  • Funeral urns of chazuta, during recent excavations 25 funeral urns were found along with 65 other findings.
  • Overnight stay at ‘Joyce v Barter’ sculpture gallery.

Day 2:

  • Cacao fields of ‘Rio Bosque Magico’ Heribertos family farm.
  • Hour walk – Learn about agroforestry and harvest the cacao using machetes (optional).
  • Lunch amazing food grown in the gardens of RBM
  • Learn about the different stages in cacao production and participate in the labour process, how to ferment and dry the cacao beans ready to make chocolate.
  • Dinner using organic products from their own farm.
  • Mishky Cacao chocolate factory.
  • Journey back to Tarapoto.

Day 1: Ceramics course and Angelica’s Farm.

  • Walk to the home of Petrona experience a traditional Quachua Lamista setting.
  • Course in basic ceramics at the home of Petrona.
  • Picnic lunch at Angelica’s family farm.
  • Learn about a self-sustainable lifestyle, growing organic vegetables and feed baby chicks.
  • Walk back to the village and enjoy swimming in the River Cumbaza.
  • Overnight stay  and dinner at Chirapamanta Ecolodge.

Day 2: waterfall Huacamaillo.

  • Breakfast at the lodge.
  • Short motor taxi drive to San Antonio – your luggage can meet you in Tarapoto.
  • Walk 1 half hours crossing small rivers to Waterfall Huacamaillo.
  • Picnic lunch in nature.
  • Once back in San Antonio we can sample some home made village wine.

2 Day Trips – Lamas – Cultural Trail

Day 1: Castle of Lamas and Native neighbourhood of Wayku
  • Arrive into hotel ‘Casa La Sangapilla.’ Coffee and walk into Lamas 30 minutes or Taxi.
  • ‘Castle of Lamas’ where you will see views over the town of Lamas.
  • Native neighbourhood of Wayku – Craft Center ‘Waska Waska Warmi Wasi.
  • Lunch in the town of Lamas.
  • Short drive to Waterfall Chapawanki (20 min walk.)
  • Dinner using organic food grown in the garden at Casa la Sangapilla (if you would like Pizza let us know in advance) – over night stay at the hotel.
Day 2:Chiricyacu and ceramics course
  • Buffet Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Chanka Museum.
  • Community of Chiricyacu.
  • Courses in chumbe, ceramics or basket weaving, with the indigenous artisans.
  • Dinner using foods harvested localy.
  • Journey back to Tarapoto​.

  • Early morning start
  • 1 hour – Journey to Chazuta.
  • Breakfast at Joyce V Barter Cultural Center and tour of the Joyce V Barter sculpture gallery.
  • Course in ceramics learn how to make a basic bowl shape with the Chazutino artisans.
  • Lunch amazing food grown in the gardens of RBM
  • Visit ‘Rio Bosque Magico’ a local cacao farm, learn about the process of making chocolate.
  • Learn how to make paper from the stems of banana trees. One hour demonstration.
  • Coffee break.
  • Journey back to Tarapoto.

2 Day Chazuta – courses in the making of ecological paper – includes 30 sheets of paper

Learn how to make paper in this workshop using the pulp of Banana trees, normally cut and wasted after the banana fruit is ready; coconut is also used.  Making paper by hand is by no means an easy process; you can help with this physical process or just watch and learn.   Once you have learnt the art of paper making you could have a go using organic materials found in your local environment.

Day 1:

  • Journey to Chazuta.
  • Welcome drink at Joyce V Barter Cultural Center – Tour of the Sculpture Gallery.
  • Paper making course. 
  • Lunch at Rio Bosque Magico.
  • Learn how to make chocolate from the fruit to the final product.
  • Overnight stay at Joyce V Barter Cultural Center.

Day 2:

  • Breakfast
  • Paper making course.
  • Lunch at Rio Bosque Magico.
  • Tour of Mishky Cacao chocolate factory and museums.
  • Journey back to Tarapoto.

The paper will be ready to take home in a week, if we have to send the paper that will cost extra.


2 Day – Waterfall Trail – journeying along the River Abiseo in the Breo National Park-  Waterfall Breo.

  • Water Route: Journey by boat to the Shihui Waterfall, Maquizapa Waterfall, Rudder Waterfall, Churo ravine and Churo cave.
  • Visit the French cave and the cave of the Otorongo (Jaguar.)
  • Campfire evening.

2 Day – Pongo De Aguire – Water Trail

Travel by boat along the River Huallaga to reach El Pongo De Aguire. Visitors can get a feel for this untouched, wild Amazon, situated where the Huallaga meets the Marañon River. 

El Pongo de Aguirre is famous for the story of Aguirre, represented in the film ‘Aguirre, the Wrath of God’ in 1972.

  • Journey by boat apox. 3 hours, arrive at the thermal baths of Achinamiza.  Waters reach temperatures of 40ºC with a high content of sulphur and iron.
  • Reach the community of Achinamiza where we will spend the night in the village hostel.
  • Walk to the waterfall of Achinamiza.
  • Journey 2 hours by boat to the land of Jumanchi, short walk for about an hour to springs and waterfalls in the centre of undisturbed rainforest.
  • Back to Chazuta
